Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Our dad Joe was diagnosed with a rare type of sarcoma in his leg. Luckily, he has a wonderful team of doctors and nurses at Froedtert and his family to support him.
Joe was diagnosed with myxofibrosarcoma - a very rare, aggressive cancer. It makes up fewer than 1% of cancers, and there are only 50-70 doctors in the United States that know how to treat this cancer. Luckily, one of these doctors is at Froedtert. He is participating in research programs at Froedtert so they can continue to learn more about this cancer and how to beat it.
On Thursday, May 5, Joel had his sarcoma surgically removed and a rod put in his leg to support his femur. He had a skin graft on Tuesday, May 10, to close his leg and will remain in Froedtert Hospital until he is well enough to come home.
