Friday night, we were reminded that tomorrow is not promised for any of us.  Luckily, Joe listened to his body and knew something wasn't right.  He was rushed to the emergency room where a series of tests were performed and he was found to have a pulmonary embolism (PE).  A PE is a very serious blood clot in the lung that often times goes undetected and can result in sudden death.  The clot caused loss of blood flow to a portion of his lung causing that tissue to infarct, essentially die, which causes excruciating, constant pain.  Just breathing causes so much pain for him that he describes it as feeling like he is being stabbed in the lung with each breath.

Thankfully, this was found early and he received the appropriate treatment.  He is home now but has a long road to recovery ahead.  He will require treatment with a blood thinner for a minimum of 6 months but potentially lifelong.  He is unable to return to work yet and without working has no source of income. 

We are hoping that his friends and family might be able to help him out in his time of need.  We are so thankful that he is getting the medical attention that he needs.  We want to try and take away some of the financial stress and burden he is experiencing as a result of this so he can just focus on getting better.  We appreciate any support you are able to send his way.
