Hi, I am Gabrielle Jurado, the fourth child of Joe Jurado. Early this year, dad was having a tough time breathing. He couldn't walk up the stairs without being able to catch his breath. Dad was eventually diagnosed with aortic stenosis in March. To fix it, he will need open-heart surgery. After a couple of months of becoming healthy and making sure his vitals were in better shape, he is now ready for the surgery. He will need an aortic valve replacement. He is scheduled to have the surgery on June 15th in San Fransisco. This recovery time is a minimum of 3 months. He is expected to make a full recovery. God has been so faithful to him during this time. We have had some really great doctors and nurses come alongside my parents. His hand has been over this whole process.
This diagnosis has been a big adjustment for dad. He was forced to stop working because he quickly became too weak to do his usual tasks. He is so used to being a capable man who works hard and takes care of family and friends. He has given so much to so many and is ready to do that again when he gets better. He told me, "Mija, don't ask for money." If you know my dad, you know he is stubborn. Too bad for him; I got his stubborn streak.
The funds will be used to cover surgery costs and some income gaps. Because of his condition, dad was forced to be on disability sooner than expected, which has led to a significant pay cut. With three teens still in the house, they will need any help they can get. Thank you so much for supporting my family during this time, whether that's through prayers or finances. We are eternally grateful.
