​Spring, often referred to as the Season of New Beginnings, delivered a host of newness to the Hansen family; however, not in the sense that one would wish for. In March of 2022 following a doctor’s visit, Joe was diagnosed with stage four esophageal cancer. Joe’s illness progressed rapidly, quickly metastasizing throughout his body, and ultimately becoming terminal.

After exhausting all treatment options through six months of intensive radiation and chemotherapy, Joe is now under the care of a home-hospice treatment team.

​Joe and his wife, Debbi, have been married for 31 years and have been pillars in the recovery community since the creation of AMOT Audio in 1993. During the year, most of Joe and Debbi’s weekends are spent on the road with their dog, Chip – packing up their mini-van full of recording equipment and cases of CD’s and roaring off to wherever they have been called to serve members of their beloved community. In the spirit of servitude, Joe and Debbi have devoted much of their lives to ensure that their people – both strangers and loved ones alike – have access to a life-saving and life-giving message from coast-to-coast through audio recordings.

​Running a business is no small feat, and, throughout the course of the last nine months, medical and daily living expenses have taken an incredible financial toll on the Hansen family, creating extra stress for both Joe and Debbi. Unfortunately, Debbi will inevitably be facing increased economic hardship immediately following Joe’s passing as he has been the primary “bread winner” of the home and it will understandably take time for her to recover after the loss of her husband.

The goal of this campaign is to alleviate pieces of the burden that has been placed on Joe and Debbi. A monetary gift – in any capacity – to the Hansen family will be used for outstanding medical expenses, daily living expenses while Debbi searches for her “new normal,” and funeral arrangements so that Joe may have the Celebration of Life that he deserves.
