I met Joe French when I was little girl because our fathers were best friends. I knew at a very young age that I wanted to spend my life with him. We dated in high school but as the story goes, we went our seperate ways and had families with other people. In the spring of 1994 we found each other again and blended our two families together in September of that same year. We raised 6 beautiful children and made a wonderful life together on our farm in Buchanan. Joe worked at Tyler Refridgeration in Niles for 27 years while I worked as a CNA for private families. Joe enjoys spending time with his family and farming. If he's not on a tractor, he's in the garage tinkering on something. Joe loves to help his neighbors and anybody in need.
Joe contracted Covid-19 in January 2023. Shortly thereafter he started experiencing stomach pains that increased over the next few months. We went to our doctor and he suggested an ultrasound which lead to a CT scan and the results suggeted we needed to see an Oncologist.
On May 4, 2023 we were refered to the Univerity of Chicago where they ran numerous tests to determine why Joe wasn't feeling well. On May 18th, my husband, Joe, was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer. The tumor was inside Joe's pancreas and wrapped around the celiac artery and blocking a common duct. The blockage is caused his liver to be enlarged. He has had a stent placed to relieve pain, decrease liver enzymes, and to also relieve him of jaundice. In July we were told that the cancer has spread to the liver and the abdominal wall and is now stage 4 pancreatic cancer, Joe now has to have frequent procedures to drain fluid from his abdomen do to acities. We have to travel to South Bend several times a week for doctor appointments and chemotherapy. We also travel to Chicago, Illiniois to the Oncologist there. He has numerous monthly medications for his diagnosis. We are asking for your help with costs of co-pays, deductables, gasoline, chemotherapy treatments, and medicine.
On behalf myself and Joe we thank you for any donations large or small.
Milly
