Hello and thank you for stopping by as I crowd source for the 1st time in my 30 year career. I'm currently working on 2 releases and your support will help with both recordings and get the releases into your hands. 2 for the price of 1, more bang for your buck, your loonie, your euro, pound, kroner! You get the idea :) :)
So, after having a year and half of no concerts whatsoever I thought this would be the right time to entertain this idea!
There are 8 levels at different price points to help support. Again this is all new to me!!
$40: you receive a sign copy of both releases
$80 : you receive a sign copy of both releases and a signed poster
$100: you receive a sign copy of both releases, signed poster and any past release (so 3 cds in total plus poster)
$200: all of the above and a t-shirt (your choice of a new tour shirt or an existing one)
$500: all of the above and you get to introduce the band or JD solo on stage at a concert near your home
$1,000: all of the above and you get a Private Concert via Zoom for you and 5 Friends
$2,500: all the above and an Executive Producer credit on both records
$5,000: all the above, an Executive Producer credit on both records and a house concert at your home!
Beyond $5,000...we name the record after you!! :) :) :)
I wasn't absolutely sure about it in all honesty but my circle of songwriter friends, especially from my Light of Day world, have had good experiences with various crowd sourcing avenues for making new records. We're navigating a strange new music business world where touring is the best way to get your music to fans as online services are unfair to songwriters.
I can't thank you enough for always being there and supporting the various "causes" I have been involved with be it the Light of Day Foundation, WhyHunger, Dan Sullivan Foundation, People to People Food Bank and other events I have been fortunate to be part of over the years. It feels a bit weird to be asking for myself/ourselves but these are, as John Lennon said "strange days indeed, most peculiar Mama"!!
We are getting close to being done with the debut release for JD's Acoustic Excursion!! This band is made up of Greg Lykins, Ken Harten, Seth Saltzman and myself and it's being produced by Greg Talenfeld and me at OK Records in Nyack, NY. This is the same studio where we recorded "Jersey Diner" and "Sway" and Greg Talenfeld engineered both those recordings. This debut record will include five or six original songs I wrote plus songs by Steve Goodman, Tom Waits, Tom T. Hall, Shel Silverstein and Ricky Nelson. That's quite the crew!!!
The JD & Stone Caravan record will be my 15th release since 1991 which includes a Best of Compilation (2005) as well as a Double Live release (2009) and a solo release (2004).
This new Stone Caravan release, which is still untitled, will include a good handful of upbeat songs from JD&SC and I can't wait to get back into the studio with the boys: Sam LaMonica keeping time on drums (since 1994!), Greg Lykins manning all the electric guitar duties (since 2001!), Jerry Scaringe slapping away at his double bass and Seth Saltzman handling all piano and organ duties. Besides the original songs that I have written I am looking at songs from Cat Stevens, my Norwegian buddy Trond Svendsen and Bob Seger to round out this release.
Once again helming the controls at OK Records in Nyack will be yours truly, Greg Talenfeld with help from Greg Lykins.
The funding goes to the cost of Recording (Studio time and Musicians), Reproduction of CD's and Vinyl (will be my first!) and if we raise more than the goal, it will allow us some promotion to get the music heard as well as helping us to get back on the road :)
Many thanks as always!!
All my best,
