Joe Camp 7 Springs Accident Fund
Donation protected
Hi friends and family of Joe,
We are opening a small fundraiser for Joe Camp who just went through an emergency Splenectomy (spleen removal), we want to help him through what will be a challenging next couple of months unable to work, drive, or move around a lot. Joe was snowboarding at 7 Springs on Monday, February 6th on the Lost Girl trail off of Gunner lift when he collided with a broken tree limb sticking out from the side of the trail. It had fallen into the path and caught Joe directly under his left arm with enough force to rupture his spleen in two.
Joe was taken off the mountain in a sled and brought by ambulance to Summerset Hospital for treatment. After undergoing a CT scan they noted the ruptured spleen and he went through another emergency transfer to Forbes Trauma Center where he underwent an immediate and life-saving Splenectomy.
The Surgeon told us afterward how lucky he was to get there when he did, and we want to thank 7 springs ski patrol, paramedic teams, and hospital staff for making sure Joe gets to ride again - Joe is an avid snowboarder and has been a special part of the 7 springs community for years.
Joe is getting ready to spend his 3rd night at the hospital (at the time of writing) and will hopefully be expected to go home with friends to begin what will be an arduous recovery. While unable to work, Joe has rent, bills, food, and his cat muffins to care for on top of whatever medical expenses begin to show up.
Any help is greatly appreciated, it is our goal to just provide some comfort and security for the upcoming months so Joe can focus on healing from this accident.
