Fundraiser for Joe Camarillo's family

Donation protected
Chicago musicians lost a brother this week. Joe Camarillo, an inspirational powerhouse of a drummer, shared his boundless talents with bands and audiences here and across the world for many precious years. He held down the beat and rolled like thunder, making us sound good while causing you to feel fine.

This town's music scene looks after its own but for obvious reasons we can't do what we'd really love do right now. We can't put on a crazy sweaty packed gig to celebrate the remarkable man's life and music and raise much needed funds for his family and loved ones.

So we're asking you to donate what you can right here and we promise that when this is done and the clubs, bars and concert halls re-open, we'll throw our brother Joe Camarillo a party to remember... play your cards right, you'll all be invited!

Right now there are, of course, considerable expenses to be paid and Dawn, Rose and Joe's Mama need our help. Thanks in advance... let's all raise a glass to the mighty Mayor of Posen!

"There never was a more special musician or friend than Joe. He gave so much of himself onstage and off. If I sounded good, it was usually the result of his modest and unseen hand." John San Juan - Hushdrops

"Joe always brought the good vibrations everywhere he went and in every band he played in. He was the kindest person we knew." Nora O'Connor

"I've never known another musician whose essence was so perfectly conveyed through their playing. He was inventive, perceptive, quick-thinking and shockingly funny, and although you wouldn't think you could hear all that in a heavy heavy performance on drums, you always did" Jim Shapiro - Hushdrops

"Joe was a jewel in our Chicago music scene... a bedrock of musicality, rhythm and good vibes." John Szymanski

“ I can’t think of any human that was more pleasant to be with and talk about music. He made everyone around feel like his best friend. Smart, fabulously funny, and a powerhouse drummer. His singing made me cry sometimes -it was so beautiful, just like his soul.” Kenn Goodman

"Joe was a musician's musician. It was my distinct pleasure to perform and record with Joe. He was eminently knowledgeable about all music, and an instant friend." John Mohr - Tar, Skull Orchard

"He just made everything better". Alan Doughty - Waco Brothers, Skull Orchard, Bad Luck Jonathan, Dollar Store
