Help Joe Cacamis Recover After a Devastating Work Accident
On April 26, 2025, our friend Joe Cacamis suffered a serious accident while working at the Broken Barrel Plaza on Babcock and Palm Bay Road. While on a ladder, it slipped out from under him, causing Joe to fall. His legs were caught in the rungs, and the weight of both the ladder and his body caused catastrophic injuries:
- His right foot suffered a compound fracture,
- His left tibia and fibula were displaced and unstable.
Joe has now been in the hospital for nearly a week. He underwent two major surgeries on Saturday (4/26/25) to reset his broken bones and reconstruct his severely injured foot. Unfortunately, complications required another surgery today (4/30/25) to perform additional reconstruction on his foot, in hopes of giving him the best chance for a normal future.
Joe does not have health insurance, making this painful situation even harder. Anyone who knows Joe knows he has spent his life working in construction and helping others when he can, often putting himself last. Joe is the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice.
Now, Joe needs our help!
He faces months without being able to walk and even longer without being able to work. The financial burden of medical bills, recovery, and lost income is overwhelming.
Please consider donating anything you can to help Joe through this incredibly difficult time. If you can’t donate, sharing this story would mean the world to Joe and his family.
Every dollar and every share gets Joe closer to healing and getting back on his feet — literally and figuratively.
Thank you for your support!!
About Me:
Hi, my name is Bobby, and I’m from the Palm Bay area. I’ve known Joe Cacamis for about 10 years after being introduced through a mutual friend, Kevin R. Joe has always been the kind of person who puts others first, working hard without ever asking for anything in return. Now, after his devastating accident, it's our turn to put him first. I am organizing this fundraiser to help cover Joe’s mounting expenses during his long recovery. The funds raised will go directly toward his rent, utilities, groceries, transportation to medical appointments, hospital bills, and other essential living costs. I will be distributing the funds directly to Joe to make sure he has what he needs during this extremely challenging time. Every bit of support will make a difference in helping Joe get through this.
5/2/25 Update:
Just a quick update! Joe was discharged late last night after almost a week in the hospital. He's in a lot of pain and sleeping most of the day to get through the pain. He's planning to reach out to everyone to personally thank you for your help once he's in a position to do it comfortably. He wanted me to thank everyone so far that has helped him.
Again, I appreciate everyone that has supported Joe through this transition whether you shared the story, donated, visited him in the hospital, or plan to do any of the above in the near future.
