Hello this is Lisa (daughter and writer) and Terri (sister and instigator of this post) of Joe Beil who needs no introduction however, we will give a little insight as to why we are here.

Over the last few years Joe’s eyesight has been declining as well as his health in general, if you have spoken to him in this time you may have heard him refer to his “bad eye” which has very limited vision. Recently his “good eye” has also been struggling and last week it was discovered that he would need emergency eye surgery to reattach his retina. The surgery went well and we are hopeful that he regains his eyesight back in his good eye. For the time being he is unable to lift his head or look up and is essentially blind.

This along with his ongoing health issues which often leave him exhausted have caused him to have to give up many of the things that he loves including being apart of the Fillmore Rescue Squad and Fire Department of which he has been volunteering his time for roughly 30 years , target practice and hunting, and most importantly it has made working very difficult if not impossible for him most days.

Witnessing these changes in such an amazing and giving person has been heart wrenching especially considering his positive attitude and demeanor throughout. He is often cracking jokes and seems to have accepted the situation he is in. His church and friends have helped this by supporting him by donation, dinners and visiting him.

As previously mentioned Joe has not been able to work for quite some time now nor will he be able to, though he will probably not be thrilled to know that this post is being created it would be a nice surprise if some of the financial pressure that I am sure he is feeling could be lifted. If you are able to donate that would be greatly appreciated however, if you are not please stop by and visit him instead and add him to your prayers! This will no doubt brighten his day and his spirits.

Joe has helped so many in his lifetime without expectation and the time has come that as a community we can repay him.
