Joe Atwell's Medevac Home
Donation protected
On December the 3rd 2018 our 65 year old Dad Joe fell in the street in Lanzarote and tumbled many times causing numerous brain haemorrhages. He was airlifted to a hospital in Gran Canaria. He has been in Intensive Care in a coma until last week, the 25th Jan 2019, when he was moved to a Neurological ward.
Whilst in Intensive Care he fought off pneumonia, sepsis and massive pressure in his brain. It was touch and go many times - as a family we have been on an emotional rollercoaster.
The care he received in Intensive Care was amazing but now that he is in the ward treatment and rehabilitation seem to have come to a halt.
He is tied to the bed (we presume to stop him from making sudden movements and hurting himself) and friends and family that are visiting are alerting the staff to clear his tracheotomy etc.
We are now worried and believe that Dad needs to be back in the UK where we can visit regularly, talk to the hospital staff without a language barrier and take more control of his rehabilitation.
With Dad now needing extensive on going care and treatment we really want him to be back here with his family and friends around him in a UK hospital.
The medevac costs are beyond our means so we are humbly asking for donations to recover some of the cost to us, his family.
