Joe and cyndi

Our family is from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada and we are fundraising for my mother Cyndi Morehouse and her husband Joseph "Joey" or "Joe" Hawthorne. Joseph is currently in hospital at Halifax Nova Scotia Canada awaiting a heart transplant. Before this can happen he needs an LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) surgery.

We are raising money for their travel expenses and any accomadation requirements from Fredericton NB to Halifax NS not covered by Medicare or veterans affairs. My mother needs to be there for the surgery, and then for a recovery period that can last up to a few weeks for recovery, maintenance, and education for the LVAD.

This has placed a financial burden on them as unfortunately mom has to take a leave from her job to help look after Joe during this time. She has no health benefits and canadian employment insurance is not at 100% of her pay.

Joe is the kindest human I have ever met, he will do anything to help anyone. Multiple times he has given the figurative shirt off his back to help his fellow human in need whether it was for food, finaces, or even shelter in his home. He is a retired member of the RCAF, 39 years of service, and worked hard his whole life. He only retired when his physical heart would not let him work anymore. Joe is a loving grandfather to several grandchildren, some of whome are pictured, he has many children both in name and heart, and we want him around for a long time.

My mom Cyndi, is the love of Joseph's life and is his newlywed wife as of this past summer. She also one of the most caring and compassionate people you will ever met, always has a spot for you if you need a bite, a shower, a place to sleep, or even just a couple bucks. Cyndi is a wonderful person and just wants to be stress free whilst supporting her husband as best she can by being there for him in Halifax.

Both of these fine people would give all to anybody without a second thought and without wanting repayment. Neither of them ever ask for anything, so we want to help ask for them.

Any money raised above what is needed will be donated to a charity, TBD.

The family is also seeking help from Veterans Affairs and Medicare and a local Church but this is for any expenses not covered by those.
