Wednesday update on Josiah:

Praising and Planning

Praise the Lord for progress! Josiah walked FIVE laps around the nurse's station today!!! They said they are going to do an X-ray tomorrow and as long as it looks good, they will remove his tube. Then if he does OK without it for 24 hours, he may get to come home!!! ❤️

Now is the long row to hoe. We have to figure out what Josiah is going to do to earn money. He cannot keep doing what he has been doing. We are currently trying to get him on disability, but he was initially declined so it's a long process. We are also looking for a home because we have to be out of our current rental within the next 5 months. Josiah will be starting respiratory therapy when he returns and he and I will start going to the gym together. There's a LOT of life changes coming down the pipe for us, and we don't know when Josiah's next income will come in. And it's summer time for this teacher.

While we are overjoyed that Josiah is stable and coming home soon (), please continue to keep us in your prayers as we have a LOT to deal with in the coming weeks.

Thank you all for your prayers and your support through the GoFundMe. All of it means so much. ❤️

Update: Joe has been in the ICU at Emory. He started building more pressure in his chest so they surgically inserted another tube. That’s 2 tubes inserted currently and 3 holes in his side. Thankfully this serving tube is doing its job and the air is coming out. His time at Emory will be determined by how long it takes to get the air out and the holes healed. That’s great news!! They don’t feel he will need a lung transplant at this time. However, that does mean Joe will still be out of work and a lot of traveling until he is home. Joe and Ashley still need all the prayers they can get and donations if you can! Thank you for your continued support!

Friends and family Joe and Ashley are needing some help due to unfortunate complications of Joe’s previously diagnosed medical condition. Joe was diagnosed with Stage 2 Pulmonary Sarcoidosis in 2022. He has undergone multiple steroid, antibiotic and other treatments with Emory and his pulmonologist since his diagnosis. He is on standby for a possible lung transplant when the time comes. This past weekend Joe was misdiagnosed with Bronchitis that was later determined to be a collapsed lung. After exploring their options, Joe and Ashley have decided to go ahead with a treatment to cauterize the lining of his lungs tomorrow morning. This treatment will be difficult, risky and agonizing for Joe but will keep him eligible for a lung transplant in the future should he need it.
Joe will be out of work for a month at minimum and Ashley is recovering from a knee surgery at the same time so they are both out of work for a while.
Joe and Ashley have been close to our family’s hearts for more years than I count. They have always been there for us and for anyone that has ever needed them. Joe does an amazing job laying floor for a living and Ashley is a sweet and sassy middle school teacher in Thomas County as well as a former child therapist. They really are amazing people.
If you are able, please help us help them out. They are truly deserving people and would really appreciate the little boost in these hard times. If you are unable to donate, we do ask that you pray for them as these times are hard and they are fighting tooth and nail to make it through rough waters!

There is also a Venmo option if you would rather donate that way. Please let Laken Ward, Jeanne Wilcox or Jenna Coffee know and we can get you that information.

Josiah is the son of Opie and Sandy Evans of Moultrie
Ashley is the daughter of Randy and Jeanne Wilcox of Thomasville
