We all have that one friend,
that one friend who has made it clear that they love you, even if they don’t say the words,
that one friend who calls you when they sense something is just not right,
that one friend who goes out of their way to make sure you are okay,
that one friend who would give you their last dollar if you needed it.
That one friend for me is Jody!
Jody and her teenage son Dakota are both victims of the ravenous Valley Fire, losing their home and almost every earthly possession.
They had time to evacuate, but with little more than a bag of dirty laundry, a couple small suitcases, some photo albums and Dakota’s dirt bike racing trophies, which Jody knew were very important to her son.
You see, Jody is one of those mothers that all mothers should take note from. She has not only raised her son by herself, holding down the job of both mother and father, but she’s been the one and only source of income in their home. She is a strong, very independent woman who has never received hand-outs, nor support for her son. The special thing about this woman, she’s never complained about any of it. Her reward, a beautifully smart and polite young man who is respectful to any person he meets.
I understand in a small community, we all know someone who has been affected by this horrendous fire and we should help everyone we possibly can, but this woman would do anything for me and it’s my duty as her friend to do the same for her.
I am asking my friends, family and members of our racing community to please help in any way you can! Dakota is a member of our dirt bike family and if every one person from that community could help, we could easily raise some funds for this Mom whose entire goal in life is the happiness of her son. Anything helps!
Thank you all,
Valicia Bartlow
