Hi. Our names are Manny Mencia, Martha Lopez Gonzalez and George Garcia. We are lifelong friends of Jody and his wife of 30 years, Barbara. We intend to raise funds to benefit Jody's widow. The funds will be applied to funeral costs and ongoing family expenses since Jody provided the sole support for the household.
Juan Manuel "Jody" Aquilar
DOB 11/22/45 - 12/7/22
Cienfuegos, Cuba.
After the Cuban Revolution, he immigrated to the United States in 1961 at age 15 under the Peter Pan program and was later joined by his parents and sister.
A lifelong resident of Miami, Jody graduated from Miami Beach High School and later attended Miami Dade Junior College. On February 14, 1992, he married Barbara Silvia Miranda, his wife, for 30 years until his death.
For the last 42 years, he has been employed as Valet Services Manager and Security at Tower 41 Condominium in Miami Beach. He remained an active employee until his sudden passing.
Jody passed away suddenly at age 77 from a massive stroke. He leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara, without means of support. Barbara is 63 years of age and has been forced to stay at home since she became the caretaker of her invalid mother many years ago, preventing her from being employed.
Jody was an avid sports fan and rabid follower of his beloved Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat, and University of Miami team sports.
What made this man special and elevated him from most can be briefly described in one word. Loyalty. One would be hard-pressed to find a more loyal husband, friend or employee. He is greatly missed.
Let us rally around this worthy cause, express our loyalty to Jody, and honor him by assisting in any way we can. Your generosity will be forever appreciated.
