Jody Beahan Immunotherapy Fund

Our Mum needs your help.

Mum (Jody Beahan) was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2019. Shortly after, she had surgery to remove a tumor and then 6 months of chemotherapy, followed by multiple rounds of ray treatment. During some of this treatment, Mum had to stay in Orange, 2.5 hours away from Mum's home town... commuting weekly for 6 weeks.

After all this (11 months), things started looking up for Mum and our family. But unfortunately in November 2019 Mum woke up one morning and her left arm was not working properly. After being admitted to ED and further investigations undertaken, Doctors discovered 12 brain tumors. It was at this time Doctors advised that the situation (Stage IV breast cancer) was terminal and Mum would commence palliative care.

Mum then received ray treatment on her brain. Half a dose due to the fact it would slow her mind down too much. This would be the only and final dose of ray treatment for the brain tumors that Mum could have.

Now we are in March 2020 after 14 months of fighting this disease. Only two weeks ago as Mum had follow-up scans, Doctors found two new tennis ball size tumors... one in her chest (close to her heart) and one towards her back. This changed Mum's life expectancy from approximately 12 months to just 3-6 months.

Mum was given the choice to either live it out or choose to fight. Mum being a strong woman has chosen to fight! 

She needs to commence treatment ASAP due to the aggressiveness of this cancer.

Oncologists have suggested Immunotherapy as the next course of action. Mum will be commencing this treatment on Wednesday 4/3/2020.

Each round of this treatment costs just over $5000 fortnightly for a total of 5 rounds, hence the goal of this fund being $26500 to cover all costs. Each round must be paid up-front or the drug will not be administered.

Mum is no longer well enough to work and does not have an income to get this money together quickly. We also do not want Mum to have any stress trying to borrow this money and then have to worry about paying off the debt.

Our family would like to thank everyone who has shown Mum support so far and we hope you could consider giving for this cause. Whatever you can give will help.

We love Mum very much and we want to help her get the treatment she needs without any stress or anxiety.

This treatment will not help with the brain tumors but is desperately needed to help control the chest/back tumors that are already causing agonising pain at times, even with the assistance of morphine. This is the last treatment/attempt to try and control these new tumors.

Please help us give Mum some more time.
