My name is Katie and I am asking for help on behalf of my sister Jodie Smith.
On November 17th Jodie received a call that she needed to go to the emergency room after some blood work came back with a low hemoglobin count. She was admitted to the hospital and the next day was diagnosed with Leukemia. Jodie was transported to St. Louis University hospital to begin treatment. She was initially diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia and was looking at a month's stay in the hospital and no chemo, but on December 1st she received the news that her diagnosis had changed to Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Jodie will begin chemotherapy treatments on Monday the 4th and could possibly need a bone marrow transplant.
The medical bills have already started coming in and her husband Brian has had to take on the role of both parents to their 13 year old son. Since Jodie won't be working for a while the family is having to make do without her income. I am hoping to help relieve the burden of her lost pay, as well as help with medical bills, groceries and gas.
Any amount would be appreciated and would help Jodie focus on fighting this disease without the worry of how to pay for it all.
