Jodi Bee Bakes is looking to move, but due to the pandemic we need your help to make it happen!

About me:

My name is Liz, and I took over the bakery in March 2021 with two goals: to transform it into a fully vegan bakery, which was completed in April 2021, and to further the mission the founder, Jodi, had of creating an "eco-tarian" bakery. I have been vegan for seven years and strive to be as zero waste as possible, buying local produce when in season, composting, re-using, recycling, and thrifting.

About us:

We are the only fully vegan establishment in Salem MA, and one of a select few in the North Shore area. We just celebrated six years in business this last June, and during that time we have been a huge staple of allergen-friendly dining for locals and tourists alike, providing cakes, sweets, and sandwiches to those who have trouble finding places that can accommodate their allergies! We additionally strive to lower our footprint by providing recyclable and compostable take-out containers, but are currently unable to recycle more than cardboard and cannot compost.

About the space:

We've identified a space with a lot of potential that will allow us to expand our equipment - which will expand our offerings (such as maybe vegan croissants???), allow our staff to work better and safer, give us better street traffic, and allow us to fully compost and recycle, bringing us one step closer to being a zero-waste establishment.

Our quote from the contractor was in the range of $90,000, which includes bringing in equipment, counters, seating, re-wire the electrical, install new plumbing, and replace the equipment we can't take with us.

Goals:

Any money collected will be used for the advancement of the bakery, and help offset the cost of the move.

• $40,000: Move by November! Additional funds will allow us to move the beginning of November, as otherwise we will have to wait for October and holiday funds, delaying our move until next year.
• $50,000: New Oven! Right now, we only have one oven for all of our baked goods! With this amount of funding we could afford to buy a new oven to double the amount of space and potentially have more complex creations that require precision heating.
• $60,000: New Floors! The current floors in the new space are tile, and are hard to work on for 8+ hours a day. With additional funds, we could install rubber-backed vinyl floors that would be more comfortable for both staff and customers.

• $100 (limit first 20): Cake! A 9" two layer, customized how you'd like!
