Jodi and kids need help after storm damage
Donation protected

Hi my name is Molly and I’m raising money to help my friend and coworker with expenses related to storm damage.
The Portland area experienced two back to back storms with unusually cold temperatures and wind that toppled or damaged thousands of giant trees, and in Jodi’s case one fell on her home.
Jodi and her girls, Jordan (13) and Colbie (9) are displaced from their house due to structural and water damage after a tree hit their house on Jan 13th. Luckily the tree didn't come through the ceiling and no one was hurt, but has caused significant structural damage to the roof, the rafters, and the exterior wall of Jordan's bedroom. Also, because manpower was stretched thin during the storm, the tree sat on the house, uncovered, for more than a week. This allowed a great deal of water to enter the house and cause further water damage to the walls, floor, and personal items. The repairs to the house are estimated to take 2-3 months. The tree removal, water mitigation and repairs will well exceed $100,000 (the removal itself was $40,000), which insurance will thankfully cover the vast majority. However, currently, Jodi finds herself living with her girls in a hotel downtown and trying to make life as normal-ish as possible. 1- She would like to subscribe to a meal delivery service, since although they have a full kitchen, she is finding it hard to have all ingredients on hand. 2- She has used all of her savings to pay thousands of dollars for deposits and initial payments to the companies who have helped her thus far (tree and roof tarping). She needs cash to get her through the next several weeks until insurance money is released to reimburse her. 3- There is another tree close to the house which is now compromised because of the ground instability of the fallen tree. She would like to pay to get that removed, which insurance will not cover.
If you are unable to give financially but would like to help, Jodi would really benefit from 1- having help transporting her kids to and from school and activities, since they are now outside of the bus boundaries, and 2- having folks come to swim or play games with her kids to allow her to attend to work and the logistics of this situation.
