Jocko's Fight for Life

Our sweet 2 year old Doberman, Jocko, was attacked by two dogs on Friday night. He was raced to the urgent care in the area where they tried to stabilize him. After being there for 8 hours, he was then sent to an intensive care hospital up north of Chicago. Jocko is really beaten up, losing part of his ear and obtaining multiple bite wounds on his hind legs, front legs, and head. Luckily one of the bites near his abdomen did not puncture through, so that’s great news. We’re taking any win as a win right now.

Jocko was able to get all his ear/wounds cleaned & stitched up in surgery Saturday night. He is at Veterinary Specialty Center in Waukegan. The doctors and nurses have been so amazing, it’s such a blessing. The doctors say he is still in critical condition. Our Jocko boy will need a blood transfusion and they will start him on hyperbaric oxygen therapy. These next 24 hours are very critical but he will continue to stay at the hospital for monitoring and ensuring they can take care of complications that arise. We have already tapped into our savings covering the urgent care visit, intensive care stay and surgery and now the issue of his hospital stay recovery is where we are struggling. We’re asking for to help cover Jocko Bean’s post surgery stay, blood transfusion, medications, follow up care and any emergency support if complications arise.

If you know me, you know Jocko bean is my shadow. We do everything together. His sweet, loving, goofy nature has captured the hearts of everyone he meets. He lives to run and play with all of his dog friends. Now we want to give him the best chance at healing fully, so he can do just that.
