Hi my name is Jocelyn Cano and on December 18th 2025, I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in my left femur. What first started as a battle against bone cancer led to one of the hardest decisions of my life. In February, the pain persisted and my best option was to have an above-the-knee amputation of my left leg. Since then, I’ve been learning how to adapt, build my strength, and I’m now working toward getting a prosthetic so I can regain my independence. While going through chemotherapy I began to have some chest pain, which then led to more tests being done, to then being given another devastating diagnosis. The cancer has now spread to my lungs, which means I now need an even more aggressive treatment. Despite these diagnoses being give to me I refuse to give up. Im still looking forward to graduating high school in May and starting college in August. Through this time I gained a passion for child development and I would love to pursue that by becoming a child behavior analyst. I believe I have the patience and dedication to pursue a field as such. I also believe that with the strength that God has given me and will continue to give me, I will beat cancer. During this time, I ask for any support possible in my journey for my prosthetic, treatments and to support my healing.
