Jocelyn's Fight: Surgery and Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Debbie Castro, and I’m asking for help for someone that is very special to me and really needs it, my daughter in law.

Her name is Jocelyn Lynch.

On June 8th we were at church and I had asked where Jocelyn was and my son told me she didn’t feel well so she stayed at home. Shortly after he received a call that she was on her way to the hospital complaining of pressure in her head and dizziness. Nason hospital did a CAT scan on her head and they found a 2cm mass forming in her brain.

She was immediately transferred to Conemaugh Johnstown to the neurology floor for further testing. They had to react quick as it continued to grow so they scheduled her for surgery Wednesday the 12th. We all had questions of what it was and why it happened. There were hardly any answers and ultimately we wanted to know what the rush was. All we were told is that it has to be removed now because of its pace of its progression.

If you know Jocelyn then you know how amazing of a person she is and how selfless she is. I could only imagine what was going through her head because I knew what was in ours. It just didn’t feel right. Not that it should happen to anyone but it just felt very unfair that Jocelyn was put in this situation. How could this be happening to such a young, beautiful, perfect person. Her positive outlook and resilience was very admiring though. It seemed that nothing could tear apart her spirit.

The surgery went great and now we are on a long road to recovery. It was an abscess a little bigger than a golf ball by the time they removed it. The surgeon said whatever motor skills she has in two years is what she would have the rest of her life. At first her left arm had no movement in it and we prayed it would come back. Thankfully everything has come back. She was given an IV pick in her arm so she could continue to get care from home nursing. As of now she has to give herself an antibiotic through an IV every 8 hours. She has to be hook up to IV for two hours at a time. She currently isn’t allowed to drive a vehicle. And soon she will get 28 staples removed from her head.

Im not only writing this and asking for help because she needs it now more than ever. I’m writing it because she really is special in so many ways and deserves some weight lifted off her shoulders. She is a great mom. She is a great daughter. She is a great sister. She is a great lover to my son. She is a great person. And most of all she is a great role model and story for us all to learn from.

Dont wait for the pain to get worse to go get checked. Don’t say I’ll be okay. Go get checked. Go see your Doctor. Also life is to short. Get yourself that something you’ve wanted. Go take that trip with your family you’ve been putting off. Go follow whatever it is your heart tells you too. You never know what is in store for us. Also because of Jocelyn I’ll never let things slow me down. I watched a 25 year old girl be told they are opening her brain and she looked fear in the eyes and said bring it on. That kind of strength is something I will always admire from her, and thankful that my grand daughter has a mommy like that to learn from.

Jocelyn and my son have been off work this entire time without pay. The driving back and forth to the hospital. All the expenses of life itself let alone all of this added on. Jocelyn will have the IV pick for at least another 8 weeks and will be off without pay. I know they would never ask for help so that’s why I’m asking for them. Jocelyn is a very hard worker and has worked since she’s been 15. Any help or support would be greatly appreciated.

They have an 11 month old baby to take care of, mortgage payment, groceries, travel expenses, car payment and much more so I know anything will help. They are both currently off work without pay and have been for the past 3 weeks. Jocelyn will have no pay for at least 8 more weeks.

I am humbly asking my real estate friends, my lifelong friends, my family and anyone that knows me to help in anyway. Even if it’s just a share so more people are able to see her story and maybe help in anyway. Just by sharing it can make a difference. Also accepting prayers. I kindly ask you to keep Jocelyn, my son and their beautiful daughter in your prayers. Even if we don’t receive a $1 I know putting it in the lords hands and prayer will get her through it.

So from the bottom of my heart thank you for taking time out of your day to read this. We appreciate every single one of you and god bless you and your family. Remember to learn from this. Don’t let obstacles and trials and tribulations get you down. Keep your head up and always keep moving forward! Thank you and god bless.
