Jocelyn’s Journey Towards Recovery
My very best friend Jocelyn and I are childhood friends that have managed to stay connected despite being apart since high school. Along the way we have made many memories that have strengthened the special bond we share. Our friendship started in middle school and continued throughout high school where strong friendships help carry you through. From college to careers, we’ve been there for each other. Now is a time I must call on the support of others to help my friend Jocelyn fight an illness that is threatening to take her life.
The Back Story
The physical body often becomes affected by the stressors that one must overcome. The mind and its hurtful thoughts can take over the life of an individual. Jocelyn, as well as, concerned family and friends began noticing changes to her body. She has always been diligent about taking the steps towards staying healthy by seeking medical attention for several years. Jocelyn continues to fight to keep her thyroid, kidneys, and heart healthy. She has been learning more and more about herself as each day passes. She recently was diagnosed with emotional anorexia (which is categorized in a different eating disorder than the most common, anorexia nervosa), where the amount of anxiety, stress, and depression cause her the inability to consume food. No matter how much she stays on top of trying to maintain her health, she’s been put in a position where her organs are shutting down. Her life’s in jeopardy and her only option left is to seek a 30+ day treatment facility that can help her get on track emotionally, physically, and mentally, while striving to gain and maintain weight each day through a medical team of specialists. Her monthly medical bills have caused a roadblock to the necessary treatment needed for survival. My goal in creating this page is to alleviate her financial stress, so that she can focus on getting healthy and recover. The majority of facilities for eating disorders are part of the private health sector and insurance benefits don't cover the costs of the care that is needed. At Rosewood, she will be getting intensive care as well as learning how to prevent a relapse. Donations will be put towards Rosewood Ranch where her chance for recovery is waiting for her.
