Libby's Love Fund

Donation protected
Margeret Elizabeth Corlew Survant, better known as Libby or more affectionately as Nanny, was a vibrant, giving, loving daughter, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, co-worker, and friend to more people than could ever be counted or imagined. On the morning of December 31st 2014 she suffered a grade V (on a scale of I-V) subarachnoid hemorrhage, the worst kind of brain bleed imaginable. She was subsequently transferred from Sumner Regional to Vanderbilt University Hospital where she underwent imaging, invasive procedures, and a craniotomy to help manage the bleeding and the effects of the bleed. She fought valiantly over the coming days, but the resultant damage was already very far gone. She was declared deceased on January 3rd 2015 at 1128. The silver lining in this situation was that Libby was the ULTIMATE GIVER and proceeding in typical GIVING fashion it was Libby's desire to be an organ donor and in being such she has the opportunity to give even in such an awful and excrutiatingly painful situation. The nature and chronology of her injury have left her organs essentially intact and we have found some comfort in this, and the fact that she will be able to donate.
Libby was devoted to her work in diabetes research at Vanderbilt and in being a long time employee does have insurance and benefits (the details of which we do not know yet). The family has discussed and wishes to proceed in setting up a fund to help cover any extra hospitalization cost, memorial service, and any other unforseen cost that may accompany such a time. We would like to reitterate that this fund is not about us, and that any money left over will either be donated to a charity of our choosing or invested back in the diabetes research that Libby was so passionate about. We appreciate anything that can be given and are thankful for the thoughts, prayers, texts, hugs you have given us and tears you have cried with us. We love you all.
