Joan's Hurricane Relief Fund

Each year, Logan Eye Care gives back to the community by choosing a charity and donating to their cause. This year, we would like to do something different. Those of you who are patients here know the "one and only" Brad, one of our two amazing opticians. For those of you who do not know him, he has been with our practice for four and a half years, has been in the business for 30 and has quite the following. He is very passionate about his job and helping people see and feel their best. He is a loved member of our LEC family.

At the end of September, when hurricane Ian wreaked havoc on a large part of Florida and caused significant flooding and damage, we discovered that Brad's mother lost everything in this storm. Joan Carroll, who just turned 80 this year and is in poor health, has lived in her mobile home in New Smyrna Beach for the last 20 years. She was recently rescued and evacuated after the storm by the New Smyrna fire department after her home took on the 5-foot flood waters that ensued. Both of her feet were broken during this rescue, rendering her immobile and requiring 24-hour care. She has been placed in a rehabilitation facility for a minimum of 2 months before she can be relocated to an assisted living facility in Titusville, Florida. Although Joan had home insurance, she did not have flood insurance to cover any of the damages to her home. FEMA has been contacted and applied for assistance, but the delivery of the aid (if and when that may happen) is still unknown.

We want to rally as a community to help Brad's mother in this time of need.
