Hi, my name is Dominic Giordano. Some of you may know my sister, Joanne, and I from Vera’s Marketplace in Cold Spring.
Many of you have noticed Joanne’s absence at the store over the last few months, which is unfortunately due to Joanne being diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer.
Joanne was diagnosed in August of 2023 and began chemotherapy treatment in October. Four rounds of chemotherapy later, she underwent extensive surgery in January 2024 at MSK. Experiencing post-surgery complications, she endured a two week hospital stay. Since her release, she has undergone another three rounds of chemotherapy. Throughout this difficult journey, Joanne has remained positive and optimistic and has become a fan favorite of the wonderful staff at MSK, to no surprise!
If you know Joanne, you know that she would do anything for her loved ones. Throughout the many years at Vera’s she has touched the lives of this community, leaving a lasting, loving, and unforgettable impression on everyone she meets. She has remained strong for her whole family, including her only daughter Irini and her granddaughter Enza, her pride and joy. Her husband Tom has been her rock throughout this process, going above and beyond to care for her during her recovery.
As one could imagine, this journey has left not only an emotional, but financial burden on our family. To ensure Joanne continues to receive the best care, we humbly ask that you consider donating toward her medical expenses. Joanne is a true warrior and an inspiration to us all!
