The children of JoAnne Weir are seeking help with her funeral expenses. She fought cancer bravely, but unfortunately had little saved at the end of her life. The responsibility for her final expenses have been left to her children to provide. Any assistance will help to honor her memory.
JoAnne Louise Weir, age 68, of Maple Lake, MN passed away December 16, 2023, after a yearlong battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends during her passing. JoAnne was born January 14, 1955, in St. Paul, MN to John and Esther (Rinkenberg) Weir. She was a 1973 graduate from Burnsville High School. She enjoyed capturing special moments with her camera and later studied at Dakota County Technical College to further her photography skills. JoAnne had a love for the Minnesota Renaissance festival, working many summers there starting in 1989. She met many friends during her time and looked forward to each summer to reunite with her friends while there. JoAnne was an avid reader for most of her life, she also liked to cross-stitch and made many items for her loved ones.
JoAnne loved to dote on her dogs Cooper and Paisley. She was a second mom to many of her children’s friends. JoAnne was caring and kind to everyone she met over the years. JoAnne considered herself a dedicated fan of the musical artist Prince. She collected Prince memorabilia item's over the years and was a member of many Prince fan Facebook pages.
JoAnne is survived by her children, Stacy Estes of Tuttle, WA; Courtney (Tony) Olson, of Maple Lake, MN; Krystal (Kayne) Wallace of Fridley, MN; and Devyn (fiancé Emily) Ryan of Winsted, MN. She is also survived by her brother's John (Vergie) Weir, and Jim “Jimmy” (Barbara) Weir. JoAnne is survived by her fourteen grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her former son-in-law Pat Foley.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her parent's John and Esther Weir, and her sister Jessie Coleman.
Her family wishes to thank Allina Home Hospice for their dedicated care of JoAnne in her final days. A celebration of life will be held in early summer of 2024. Details will be announced at a later time.
