It is with broken hearts that we share the devastating loss of our beautiful friend Joanne Shaw.

Jo was one of the most caring and selfless people anyone could have known. She always put others before herself and brought light, warmth, and kindness to everyone around her.

Her child was her entire world. Anyone who knew Jo knew she would have done anything to protect them. No child should ever have to experience such a loss. Their world has been turned upside down, losing the person who loved them unconditionally, who made them feel safe, and who was always there for them.

Tragically, alongside this loss, Jo’s family have also lost their home, leaving them without the place where they felt safe and secure.

Jo had a beautiful way with words and often shared her thoughts through poetry. We wanted to share a few of her words, which feel especially meaningful now:

‘My family’s tied together by an unbreakable, precious thread. Although it isn’t visible, we always know it’s there. Our bond cannot be broken; our souls will never part. My family’s aways with me, no matter where we are.’

We cannot begin to imagine the pain her child and family are facing, but we know they should not have to face it alone.

We are asking for support to give Jo the farewell she deserves and to help provide stability for her child during the incredibly difficult time ahead.

The funds raised will go towards:

• A dignified and heartfelt farewell for Jo

• Immediate support for the family

• Ongoing support to help her child adjust and find stability in the months ahead

Right now, they need kindness, compassion, and support. We cannot change what has happened, but we can come together to show them they are not alone.
