https://rarediseases.org/organizations/desmoid-tumor-research-foundation/ I never thought that I would be in a position to ask for help in this way, but life throws us many curves so I am putting aside my pride and asking for help From My Tribe.
In February of 2019 I found a lump in my stomach and soon began the medical journey of finding the diagnosis. After three different opinions I was diagnosed with a desmoid tumor also known as aggressive fibromatosis. This is a pseudo sarcoma which means that it's a tumor that acts like cancer but will not spread to other parts of the body. Only 900 people/year are diagnosed in the USA with this rare disease.
My profession is to help people find the root cause of their illness to give their body the best possible chance to fight off the illness rather than just symptom management. I have dedicated my life to this cause and now I am seeking help for my own Medical mystery.
The tumor that I have has continued to aggressively grow, doubling in size since February despite many Lifestyle Changes that I have made. It is now growing so quickly that a bowel perforation or obstruction is imminent
The treatment options are not that great with allopathic treatment. Surgery would mean but there's a 50% chance of reoccurrence and when the tumor grows back it's more aggressive and harder to treat. Not to mention that it would mean an abdominal reconstruction with mesh which comes with its own set of Lifetime complications.
Oral chemotherapy is another option but the results are not guaranteed. The side effects are debilitating. As the caretaker of my four young children I don't feel that currently this is the best option at this time.
I have found Hope in various immunotherapies, cancer vaccines, and other treatments that are currently not allowed in the states. I would like to pursue treatment in Mexico where there are 21 different therapies that are available with promising results.
This would mean that I would be gone from my family to get various treatments for weeks at a time.
The cost range from anywhere between $8,000 to $15,000 per week.
My family and I are committed to sacrificing whatever we need to to pursue this treatment method since we believe that finding the root cause of this tumor is our best chance at stopping its growth permanently.
This includes reaching out to you for help financially. With me gone, we will need help for child care as well as the expense of the treatment itself.
Please consider donating whatever you are able to. Every dollar will help us with this battle. I am committed to paying this forward once I beat this life-threatening tumor.
Thank you so much for considering being a part of my treatment team. So much love to you all.
