Hi, my name is Melissa Beal and I am fundrasing for Joanna and Andrei Andronescu. Joanna was put on bedrest shortly after her 20 week prenatal untrasound. She spent almost 5 weeks in the antepartum unit at Swedish First Hill. The incredible team at Swedish took amazing care of Joanna and Baby during this time, trying to ensure a safe arrival for Baby Boy. Late on the evening of June 18th Baby Atlas was wisked into the world via emergency cesarian section. At just 25 weeks gestation he weighed only 1lb 12oz. He has been being cared for by the skilled NICU team at Swedish since birth. Not only has Joanna been recovering from the operation, but she also suffered a knicked bladder due to Atlas's low location during the birth. She has also been tirelessly pumping for Atlas so the nurses are able to give him her breastmilk little bit by little bit each day. He has been living up to his strong name and doing amazingly well under the circumstances. He recently came off of the oscillating vent and onto a conventional vent, which means he is needing less assistance with his breathing. Joanna and Andrei have been visiting their sweet boy each day since Joanna was discharged from the hospital, they are able to give him hand hugs and place a special heart cloth near him that Joanna wears on her body so that he is able to be comforted by the smell his Mama until he is strong enough for her to hold him. They have a long road and big medical bills ahead of them which is why I want her fabulous communtiy to join in and help them in their time of need. Joanna will get her materity leave time to recover from birth but will also want to take time when Atlas is able to come home to them. Money raised will help The Andronescus to pay medical bills and help with living expenses during Joanna's time away from work. Atlas could be in the NICU as long as his due date which was October or longer. I have never known a more deserving and kind hearted couple as Joanna and Andrei, their love for each other has grown into the most beautiful family for Atlas to be part of.
