Hello, my name is Brittney, and I am the oldest of JoAnn's 5 daughters. Recently, our mom made a trip to Las Vegas to watch our youngest sister's cheer competition. Shortly after arriving, she became very ill. She was rushed to the hospital in bad shape, and attempts were made to stabilize her in hopes of getting home and tending to her health there. Unfortunately, her health continued to decline, and the decision was made to operate. She underwent a total colectomy, removing 90% of her colon. During the surgery, it was discovered that her intestines were severely infected and perforated. Her surgeons said she was lucky to be alive, and we couldn't be happier to receive that news. Her road to recovery is going to be lengthy and a struggle physically, mentally, and financially. My mom is the strongest, most self-reliant person I have ever known. The days, weeks, and months ahead, she will need all the support we can give her with the expenses that will come with her road to recovery.
