JoAnn “Jodi” Malone is in need of our help!

In June of 2022 JoAnn was diagnosed with Cortical Basal Degeneration (CBD). CBD is a very rare and evil disease that affects the Frontal Lobe of the Brain and is similar to ALS and Parkinson's combined.

Prevalence:

CBD is very rare and there are only 2,000 to 3,000 people diagnosed in the United States. These numbers are likely underestimates because of those who have not yet been accurately diagnosed.

In comparison, about 1 million people in the U.S. have Parkinson’s disease, and about 7 million have Alzheimer’s disease.

There is no known cure or medication to treat CBD, all we can do is Pray and hope for a miracle.

CBD has taken away JoAnn’s Visual Cognitive Senses. CBD affects your ability to do simple tasks and affects the time it takes to respond and receive information; however, CBD does not take away your sense of wellbeing or intelligence. CBD has affected JoAnn’s left arm with muscle rigidness and it’s progressing more down her left side.

Currently JoAnn needs assistance with everyday tasks such as dressing, bathing, guidance navigating thru her home and in public. CBD has taken away JoAnn’s ability to climb stairs. The Kitchen and Living Room are on the 1st floor; the Bedroom and Bathroom are on the 2nd floor of our home.

JoAnn’s home was built in 1930. The Stairway is very narrow, steep, and challenging. Even for a well able person. {See Pictures}.

After consulting with several ADA Companies. The stairway will not accommodate a stairlift. The only feasible solution is an elevator lift. {See Picture}. The estimate for the elevator unit installation and pre-construction was the most economical.

The Funds needed to help JoAnn navigate and enjoy her home are 40,000.00 Dollars.

JoAnn and Kevin have refinanced their home and acquired some funds for the project.

This Lift is NOT COVERED BY MEDICARE or MEDCAID INSURANCE.

The Organization that acknowledges JoAnn's Disease is Cure PSP in New York City.

They are such a small group, that's they're not able to help with any funding.

This is where JoAnn needs our help. Every donation small or large will help us achieve our goal.
