Fund for Joanes' Family in Haiti
Donation protected
Joanes Delence's family was devastated by Hurricane Matthew in Haiti.
Joanes Delence (37 years old) has been working for our mother, Francoise Arnesen, for 6 years. He has always been there for her, and for our family. He is a kind, hard working ,and gentle person, who is very devoted to his family.
Joanes grew up in the coastal farming town of Torbeck in south western Haiti, the region that was hardest hit by Hurricane Matthew. His parents, Anne Marie (70 years old) and Rosulme Delence (68 years old) have lived there all their lives and spent over 40 years of hard work to own their crops and livestock.
Before the hurricane hit the family had finally reached what amounted to their life-long savings - two horses, a donkey, five bulls, some goats and chickens and fields where they cultivated corn and manioc, and precious fruit trees – avocado, mango, papaya, and the prized Haitian breadfruit- a major source of income for Haitian farmers. The family . . . very much animal lovers, had four dogs.
They lost everything, except one dog.
Their house, a single room cement rural dwelling with a dirt floor withstood the hurricane, unlike their neighbor’s homes. When the hurricane hit many of the people in the community ran to seek shelter in their home.
We cannot replace the lifetime of work that his parents put into the farm, but we can help them get the farm back to a place that supports the family, and helps to rebuild the community.
We hope you will join us in helping Joanes and his family.
With heart-felt appreciation,
The Arnesen Family
