Joan's Stem Cell Transplant.

Our Sister Joan has been diagnosed with a rare cancer, called Multiple Myeloma. This Cancer has no cure ,it affects the bone and bone marrow.It has progressed into her bones,  what they call Moth Holes in her bones . When we found out that Joan was sick, near and far, we all came together to support her. She has been chosen by an amazing team of Doctors , Nurses, and support workers from The Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto , Ontario to receive a Stem Cell Transplant after her months of Chemo treatments. This is an amazing gift for our family.  If you know our family, you will know that it doesn't stop with just our blood relation. This type of Cancer has no cure ,But it can be treated with the SCT. It will come back . Anyone who has met Joan, knows what an amazing baker, crafty, and caring person she is. She has an appointment to start her treatment in Toronto on July 9th.. They anticipate that she will need to stay in Toronto for 2 to 5 weeks for this treatment and have a 24 hour caregiver with her at all times. They do not have a hospital for her to stay in, either a hotel , or Princess Margaret Cancer Lodge. She will be transported to the hospital daily for her treatments, then back to her lodgings. Her beloved husband Denis has used all of his time off from work , as she had to be in Thunder Bay Hospital for a month in February.  Any more time he takes will likely be without pay. We are hoping to take the burden off of them, worrying about paying bills, and always having one of the family with her at all times.
