Hello there! We are Ebb & Flow Theatre, and we are raising funds for Joan & Olivia: A Hollywood Ghost Story, our upcoming Toronto Fringe Production.
Our play explores the complex dynamics of sibling rivalry, generational trauma, jealousy, pride and nostalgia. The show runs 60 minutes, and will be full of laughs, tears and lots of heart.
THE TEAM
Ebb & Flow Theatre is an ad-hoc collective comprised of indie producers Georgia Findlay, Cassie Davidson and Mwanzi Johns. Findlay and Davidson have previously worked together several times as classmates and friends in the George Brown Theatre School graduating class of 2019. Johns is a first-time theatre producer, and experienced film writer, director and producer. The script was written by Georgia Findlay, with dramaturgical help from the amazing Matt Eger, who is also taking on the role of director for this piece.
We are currently in the midst of rehearsals with our wonderful cast of actors, who will be performing this new original piece at the Factory Theatre Mainspace between July 6th-17th, 2022.
CAST
Crystal Casera - "Molly"
Mackenzie Kelly - "Celeste"
Nicole Moller - "Olivia De Havilland"
Georgia Findlay - “Joan Fontaine”
THE STORY
For those who don’t know, Joan Fontaine and Olivia De Havilland were two of old Hollywood’s brightest stars and most bitter rivals. They also happened to be sisters! In our fictionalized story, we follow these real-life screen legends beyond the grave as they find themselves stuck as ghosts, doomed to haunt their childhood home in Saratoga, California. When two new young sisters move into the house, Joan and Olivia begin meddling in their affairs and passing their feud on to a new generation.
CROWDFUNDING PURPOSE
The purpose of this gofundme is to help us buy costumes, sets, and props to bring this show to life, as well as paying for rehearsal spaces, advertising and more. Your donations will also go a long way in compensating our dedicated team of artists for all their hard work. Any amount that you can spare would be very much appreciated!
THANK YOU
We owe a huge debt to the frontline workers, creators, producers and theatre-lovers who are making this experience possible for us! We can’t wait to celebrate the return of the Toronto Fringe Festival with our special little ghost story.
