Joan Hintenach
Donation protected
On June 23, 2022, Joan Hintenach suffered a ischemic stroke due to a blood clot that had made its way to her brain. The stroke left Joan’s entire left side paralyzed, and subsequent imaging revealed she had remaining clots in her brain and lungs. As soon as she was cleared, Joan went into a high-risk surgery to remove them. Against all odds, Joan survived the surgery. The doctors were able to clear the clots, as well as repair a hole in her heart.
Joan is now stable and making strides in her recovery every day. Starting July 8th, 2022, she will move to inpatient rehabilitation and begin the hard work of getting back to life as it once was—a life that has always been and will continue to be focused on her family, friends and deep-set drive to help others. While it will no doubt be a challenging road to recovery, Joan is eager to begin working towards her finish line: Walking into her classroom to teach, as she always has.
You can donate to Joan’s recovery here at her GoFundMe account. Any donation, no matter how small, helps. All donations will go towards paying for Joan’s medical care. Any unused funds will be donated to The Stroke Foundation. On behalf of Joan, we, her family, sincerely appreciate your support.
Joan also has a CaringBridge site, where we will be able to update you on her recovery journey; share your messages with her.
