On August 4th, 2021, Piper was officially diagnosed with cancer after finding a swollen lymph node in her neck at the beginning of June. After courses of steroids and antibiotics didn't work, doctors started work to scan and biopsy the mass. The tests came back and she was diagnosed with Classic Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, sub-type Nodular Sclerosis with "B symptoms" showing. She will have a PET scan on August 6th and surgery on her neck to excise the largest lymph node on August 10th. The doctors are working quickly to stage her cancer so they can start a treatment plan which will consist of chemotherapy and possible radiation or immunotherapy after. Currently the cancer is known to be in her neck and chest lymph nodes, the scan and the excision biopsy will tell the doctors if it has spread further in her lymphatic system or outside into other locations. While the long term outlook for this type of cancer is optimistic, Piper will still have a long, hard fight ahead of her. She could use all of the love and support her family and friends can offer right now.
While she would never ask for this on her own, we worked together to set this up and share it with her knowledge and approval. It is to help her with out of pocket medical expenses as her treatment progresses. We want her to be able to focus on her health, treatment, and recovery during this difficult time. We want her to be in remission and ring the bell as soon as possible. We are unsure of total medical costs, missed work, or lost income at this time. But the costs have already started to quickly add up and out of pocket costs are sure to be substantial.
Please help support Piper in her time of need. We deeply appreciate anything that you can provide including thoughts, well wishes, cards, prayers, shares, or contributions.
If you would like to send a card or message, please let us know and we will get it to her.
We will update everyone as we get further information and progress further into her treatment.
Thank you for everything!!
Brayden and Tekie
