Help Hanmi Through Her Cancer Journey

Hello, my name is Hanmi. I am a hardworking, divorced mother of two sons. I have worked for over 20 years providing support and compassionate care at my child development center.

I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in my left hand in June 2025. The sarcoma is stage IV and has metastasized to a lymph node. I began my aggressive treatment two weeks ago. The treatment plan consists of two separate chemotherapy medications, followed by radiation, then chemotherapy, and surgery. The total treatment time is estimated to be 6 months or longer.

The medical director at the cancer treatment center confirmed my diagnosis. My immediate feelings were of both fear and devastation. My medical director understood the gravity of my confirmed diagnosis. He was patient. He allowed me to take time to absorb the information. He was empathetic. He listened. My cancer center medical director explained the next steps clearly.
