Dear friends and family,

On August 6th, while at home with her children Ali suffered a sudden intracerebral hemorrhagic stroke. In a moment no kid should ever have to face, Clara and Jack showed incredible bravery—acting quickly to get their mom the urgent medical help she needed. We are so proud of them.

Because of where Ali’s brain bleed is located, surgery isn’t an option right now. Doctors have placed a drain to relieve the pressure from spinal fluid and help protect her brain. On August 7th, neurologists began to slowly remove her sedation, hoping to better understand her condition. At the moment, she is responding only to foot stimuli, but her vitals remain stable. We are holding onto hope that in the coming days we will see signs of her strength breaking through.

You all know Ali, and you know she is so much more than this medical update. She is fun-loving, kind, and fiercely loyal to the people she loves. She is vibrant and beautiful—someone whose light fills a room and whose presence makes everyone feel welcome. She is a devoted mom, active in her children’s school, and a fierce advocate for dyslexia awareness and support. We all have stories of Ali making us laugh until we cry, showing up when we needed her, and bringing joy into our lives.

Ali has poured her heart into raising Clara and Jack as a full-time, stay-at-home mom. She and Eric have built their family life around a single income, with Eric’s environmental work often taking him away into the field, sometimes for long stretches. But now, more than ever, he needs to be home—with his kids, by Ali’s side, facing this unknown road together.

The financial impact of Eric being away from work will be immediate and heavy. And beyond the day-to-day bills, there will be other costs—travel, accommodations, and medical needs we can’t yet predict.

This is where we can rally around them. Our goal is to lift as much of that weight as possible so Eric can focus entirely on his family. Every single donation, no matter the size, is a way of saying: * Although many of us are separated by distance - we’ve got you. We love you. You are not alone.*

Please keep Ali, Eric, Clara, and Jack in your thoughts and prayers. Your love and generosity mean more than words can say, and together, we can help them get through this unimaginable moment.
