Support Jack's Journey to Recovery

Hello everyone,

Jack is really going through it again and in need of help once more. He has been doing amazingly well after his back surgery from 2 years ago, but last week he slipped another disk in his back. This is his third ruptured disc with his IVDD. He was in a significant amount of pain, and partially lost the use of his back legs, so we took him to his neurologist for another emergency back surgery. After running some tests, they found that Jack has severe heart disease. He’s developed DCM (dilated cardiomyopathy), and couldn’t be put under anesthesia safely, so he cannot currently undergo an MRI or surgery to fix his spine until his heart is stronger. We got him started right away on heart medication, and his Vet team has developed a plan for us to continue his crate rest, medicines, and non surgical treatments. We are hoping that, with the medication, his heart can be strong enough within the next couple weeks for surgery if that is his best option. If he can’t be placed under anesthesia safely by then, and if he doesn’t heal right on his own, we will likely need to adapt to Jack living the rest of his life paralyzed in his lower extremities. Best case scenario we will continue his electro-acupuncture and cold laser treatments along with his medicine and rest and he will recover on his own and we can focus on the real danger, which is his heart disease.

On top of all this, Jack has been healing from serious corneal ulcers for the past few months. He has undergone many types of eye drops, debriding, PRP treatments, and pain medications. In addition to those we have recently done many costly procedures and tests including echocardiogram, x-rays, blood tests, neurology specialist appointments, cardiology specialist appointments, acupuncture, laser treatments and additional medications for his back several times a week. We have already spent several thousands of dollars in a short amount of time. If his heart is strong enough for surgery in time, it will be an additional $10,000 to $14,000 to give him the spine surgery he needs to keep him walking and going potty on his own.

Jack is receiving the best treatments possible, and we’re doing everything we possibly can. We didn’t want to have to make another gofundme, but several people have asked to donate, and with expenses mounting, we could sure use the help right now.

Any donation amount would be greatly appreciated. Jack is a very special boy, loved by so many. He deserves the best of the best, and that’s what we’re going to give him.

If anyone would rather donate outside of gofundme, you can send through Venm0 to @Dan-Gilbert, or search Dans phone number to donate through Zell3 (feel free to message either of us privately for his phone number)

Thank you to everyone that has loved on Jack and supported him and us. Although we are beyond heartbroken and worried, the amount of love he and we have received throughout the years, from so many people that love Jack, has been really special and comforting in these times. All dogs are wonderful but some dogs are just extra special and Jack is definitely one of those. He is just pure good, light, and love. Despite everything he has been through he has such a wonderful attitude and spirit.

Thank you everyone. We love you.
