Cornea Transplant Fund

Hello my name is Anna and I am fundraising for a cornea transplant surgery.

 

I have tried writing down my eye journey… it is just too long and emotional for me right now. I was diagnosed with a cornea disease at 20 years old called keratoconus. It has done much damage on my eyes and for a long time I was able to wear hard contacts to achieve good vision. I am now intolerant to contacts. My eyes have created it’s own allergic response to wearing the contacts and all I am left with is glasses. It is a very difficult concept to explain to most people but glasses can only do so much for a diseased eye. I am left with the choice of living with glasses (which is not sustainable) or having a transplant. It sounds like a very drastic decision but it is my only option if I want to be able to work and get around on my own.

 

I will be having a cornea transplant done by Dr. Marjan Farid at UC Irvine in Southern California on January 5th. After surgery, I will be out of work for an undetermined amount of time(months) and it will be a very difficult time financially for my household. I am not really sure how much of this surgery will be covered by insurance and what the total cost will be… I just know I don’t have much of a choice.

 

I had to put down a goal for this fundraiser but again I do not really know how much it will all be. We will be eternally grateful for any amount donated to our gofundme! Please do not feel pressured to donate but a share will help! It will be used towards travel costs, a place to stay after surgery, surgery costs, etc.
