Celebrate Jamie's 70th Birthday

On September 23, my dad Jamie Anderson turns 70! And to celebrate, my brothers and I want to surprise my dad by helping get his beloved 1953 Dodge Series-B Pickup Truck back on the road.
If you know Jamie, you likely know about his Dodge truck. When he purchased it in 1976 it had already been on the road for 20 years and wasn’t exactly in mint condition. But he loved it. And he’s loved it ever since.
My parents drove it to church on their wedding day. They drove it up Route 1 (at a whopping 55/mph) to the Russian River. He had it to set during his first feature film. Every Halloween he loaded its pickup bed with Pumpkins and bales of hay. (We added the bloody witches and ghosts.) And, when my parents packed their bags and moved across the country in 2010, the dodge (in pieces) went along with them.
But the truck (unlike Jamie, of course) is showing its age: a sad fender bender that wrecked the front grill, wheel cylinders that wore down, a transmission that was “unreliable”. The chipped paint and the torn seats interior— Age got the best of it.
Jamie began seriously restoring it years ago. But there’s still a chunk of work to do. To celebrate his 70th birthday we want to help expedite the final stretch of work. That’s where you come in.
To honor Jamie, and this milestone we want to fund the remaining work needed to get the Dodge back to beautiful again. The money will go towards restoring the truck’s frame, finishing the remaining engine work, and replacing its wood bed.
My dad’s love for his dodge truck is apparent. Even when it was sitting in the driveway, the frame rusted and the engine in pieces, he still talked about it with all the fondness and affection in the world. Over the last few years he’s been dreaming of its restoration. I know it would mean a lot to him to have The Twuck on the road again—even more so because it’s his friends and family that can make the dream come true.
So join me in wishing Jamie a happy 70th birthday by contributing to the effort. Any gift, large or small, will get him one step closer to putting his relic back on the road, with him in the driver’s seat!
We’ll be including the names and messages from everyone on a card we’re putting together. And we’ll keep everyone updated with photos and videos of the restoration process, in case you’re interested in following along!
Questions or comments? Just reach out to me (Will) directly! And feel free to share the campaign with anyone who knows The James. But be discreet—we’re trying to keep this a surprise.
