Mickey's battle with Cancer

My name is Amilcar Medina (better known as "Mickey") I was recently diagnosed with one of the rarest forms of cancer there is. MUCOEPIDERMOID CARCINOMA which effects less than ONE percent of ALL CANCER PATIENTS. I'm a 39 year old father of six children. Two of which are biologically mine (ages 6 and 15) and four (ages 6,12, 13, 15) that I chose to raise as my own since I met my girlfriend and fell in love with them all.
I was born and raised in Staten Island N.Y. although we had recently (about 6 moths ago) relocated to Florida in hopes of a better living. After being there a few months I had noticed a bump growing rapidly near my ear/jawline. Having no insurance in Florida and while back in N.Y. tying up loose ends I subdued to my stubbornness and went to my dentist thinking it was an abscess. I was immediately referred to an Orthodontist at Bellvue Hospital, where I was told I had an enormous TUMOR growing in my jawbone and was immediately admitted to be treated for what was thought by specialists to be a benign tumor. After given multiple catscans, contrast no contrast blood work and x-rays it was discovered that I had a type of cancer that the doctors and specialists have only read of but haven't yet seen. I am the first person to ever be treated for Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma Stage 2 Cancer at Bellvue Hospital, NYC, I am currently trying to switch Sloan Kettering as they deal solely with cancer patients and have the highest success rate in the U.S.
I will be placed in a medically induced coma for two or three days while they remove the tumor that is eating away my jawbone (the entire right side from my ear to my chin is already gone) and replace it with tissue, bone and arteries from my lower leg. Also I will be given a Tracheotomy and feeding tube in which I will have to live on a liquid diet for at least six months. I have to go through facial reconstructive surgery, and must also go through months of physical therapy in order to learn how to reuse my jaw and balance with the missing leg bone. The recovery from this all is at least a year. Leaving me away from my family, scared and alone, as I must stay in NY due to insurance and quality care
Shortly prior to this occurence I lost my job of 8 years as a phone technician and my unemployment has run out forcing me to take my annuity out which is now gone. I started working in Florida only to lose the job due to this medical problems now.  Having always been a very proud Independent person and Father/Stepfather I am now looking my Biggest fear in the face. Although I will be getting some medical help I do not know how I will be able to keep up with my bills and continue supporting my family; my children and myself. This is just the beginning of a long and scary road with an unknown ending. As a stable man who always considered himself fearless I now know nothing but fear, stress and worrying how to continue providing for myself and my children.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read what I am and will be going through, this is by far the scariest time of my life. Being the man that I am, of course it hurts my ego to admit I am scared for the future and need help, as I've prided myself in being the one to always help others. Any donations given to help me overcome this tragic time in my life would be appreciated from the bottom of my heart and never forgotten. God bless you all, it's in His hands now.
