It is an honor to nominate Tabatha and Tammy Kay for this year's 2022 JLL L.I.F.T. Award Recipient. The L.I.F.T. program, which stands for Lasting Impact on a Fellow Teammates, is awarded to a JLL employee or an immediate family member going through a difficult situation. Tabatha Shomo and her daughter Tammy Kay were nominated by her fellow team members as this year’s recipient. It is an honor to share some of their story:
Tabatha Shomo joined JLL as a Dual Role Manager of both Marketing and Specialty Leasing at Dubois Mall in January of 2020. Tabatha jumped into the role and was the only onsite employee for an extended period during her onboarding and training with COVID impacting travel. Despite these complications she dove in enthusiastically, giving us all an opportunity to get to know Tabatha virtually and her sweet daughter Tammy Kay. Tammy Kay was born prematurely at 26 weeks with a complicated delivery that caused Tammy Kay to have several health challenges, including Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and delayed organ development. Tammy Kay is now 20 years old and will never be able to function or live on her own. During COVID, all of Tammy’s limited rural programming was cut, forcing the family to utilize family for caregiving, but the lack of schedule, ongoing education, and therapy opportunities were negatively impacting progress for Tammy Kay. Tabatha worked tirelessly in 2021 to find new programs and Tammy Kay was finally accepted to a wonderful program in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania late last year. They have now begun the process of placement, which will require lots of travel back and forth for both Tammy and Tabatha moving forward.
As a parent, you never anticipate that you will be in these situations. Her acceptance in the program is such a positive step forward for Tammy Kay, but has now placed new burdens of worry on the family financially. Tabatha’s ability to have reliable transportation is now crucial with the program located almost 2 hours away. As you can imagine, special needs require expenses that many of us do not incur daily, making it even more difficult to make large purchases even if they are needed. We would like to take this opportunity to eliminate that worry for Tabatha during this transition process. If we could provide the family with a down payment towards more reliable transportation, it would make such a difference in their lives and help bridge the gap financially during a difficult time.
We want to thank you in advance for your generous donation to help this family as it is our honor to lift up Tabatha and Tammy Kay this year at Management U!
