Our Little Warriors Toughest Battle
Hi friends and family. In November of 2015, our strong little boy Sebastian was diagnosed with a brain tumor, ATRT. In an instant Sebastian taught us a life lesson. You may be small and mighty but you can still be a warrior. He taught his parents how to be fighters, just like him.
In late September he began to show symptoms. It started with a cough, nausea, and sleepless nights. His parents took him to his pediatrician in hopes of some relief. Although they were told it was due to growing pains and teething, as parents they knew better. They knew that their little boy was fighting something bigger than the normal toddler's illnesses. Mom and dad didn't give up and kept pushing for answers. Then, on November 8th 2015, they took Sebastian to the emergency room because at this point he was throwing up, couldn't walk, or even move. Doctors at Regional Medical Center did a Cat Scan and immediately told them it was cancer. They were sent to Lucille Packard Childrens Hospital where he is currently being treated. At this particular hospital they specialize on children and we have full faith in our medical team. Two days after getting admitted into the hospital, the doctors performed his first surgery in hopes of removing the tumor. The tumor was the size of a baseball, they were only able to remove 90%. After this he underwent four rounds of chemo. The doctors took a MRI and decided against two months of radiation, as it would be too harsh on a one year old. Today, April 15 2016, Sebastian underwent his second brain surgery. And I'm very happy to say, it was a success. They were able to remove the whole tumor. As much as we are not looking forward to his next treatment which could be 2 months of radiation and 6 rounds of chemo, we know that it will be the best for our warrior.
It's not easy or cheap commuting to and from the hospital. Sometimes on a daily basis. I am sure his parents would do it every day if thats what it took to get their little boy healthy again. But this is where I would appreciate your help in hopes that we can make their battle in fighting for their son a little easeir.
Sebastian is my godson, he's close and dear to my heart. He brightens everybodys day with that beautiful smile of his. And now that he's hitting his terrible twos' we're finally being able to see the kid that we love, he is a lovely, mischievous boy that God meant for us to have. Even in the middle of his chemo treatment he is a handfull. Our hands are full but our hearts are fuller thanks to our little Warrior.
We would be thankful with any help or even just a prayer to help his parents fight the battle with our chunky monkey.
Thank you and may God bless you.
