Help Scott beat cancer
Donation protected
My brother Scott in Colorado has just got a cancer diagnosis. This page is to raise funds, to help him during his treatment and recovery.
He has been diagnosed with lymphoma, specifically diffuse large b-cell lymphoma. It is an aggressive form of blood cancer.
On December 19, Scott saw the oncologist/specialist in Denver at the University of Colorado medical campus. The doctor has created a treatment plan that’s a combination of immunotherapy, steroids, and chemotherapy. Treatment will likely start in early January and will last for around 3 months, provided there’s a positive result. However, it could take 6 months and maybe longer.
The overall prognosis is promising. However, the treatment will lead to some hefty expenses and will take Scott away from his work as a copywriter and ski instructor, thus negatively impacting his income. The drugs in the treatment protocol have significant side effects and the treatments take time. For example, the initial infusion will take 8 hours and that’s before the 3-hour round-trip drive to where Scott will likely have treatment.
Here’s a note from Scott:
“I started to have indications I might have cancer back in early November. I hope you never have to hear the words, ‘you have cancer.’ I was hesitant to say ‘yes’ to a fundraiser like this as there are plenty of people who are much worse off than me. I’m confident I’ll get through this. But several friends said, ‘you need a fundraiser like this.’ So thanks to Mary for organizing one on this platform.
“Here’s my commitment. I’ll find a way to repay your generosity once this episode is over. This will be through volunteering my time, helping people who need help, or direct donations to fundraisers in the future. Thank you in advance and I’ll provide updates here and on other platforms.”
