Unexpected Medical Illness
Donation protected
In the beginning of June, my workplace laid almost 40 workers, including myself. While being laid off, I was out mowing the yard when I came in and blacked out. My wife was scared for me and took me to the hospital. That's when we found out that my carotid artery (a main blood vessel that goes to your brain) was 99% blocked on one side and 89% on the other side of my neck. We went into surgery as soon as possible before my insurance expired.
Thankfully the surgery went great for one of the arteries, but I contacted flesh eating bacteria, Necrotizing Fasciitis, while in a hospital. Doctors had to remove several portions of flesh on my lower body to save me. If they had waited one more day, it would have spread much further and killed me. Doctors told me that only a handful of people survive this. God is not ready for me yet.
I have been looking for a job since I have been out of the hospital, but I am still out of work. My industry is seasonal and companies usually don't hire during the holidays.
This has been very traumatizing physically, emotionally, and financially to me and my family. Right now my medical bills alone are $50,000 that my insurance isn't covering (they told me they already paid out $850,000). I still have the other blocked artery I need surgery on too. This is not including bills like rent, food, utilities and other costs to live. Right now we are falling behind in our bills and I'm afraid I wont afford rent in the next month or two.
This has been extremely hard on my family. My autistic son is taking it hard, especially with his grandmother passing away before this happened. My wife has been with me since day one and never left my side. It's extremely hard for her when she had to take care of me, the many bills we have and only her income to help out.
Donations will help us get back on our feet and make sure that our bills are paid, like my rent and medical costs. Right now we are behind on bills and our savings is gone. Any help will be appreciated. This will keep us going till I hopefully get a job shortly.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. God bless you.
