Help Replace Bike Jax's Bicycle!

If you frequent events and happenings in Jacksonville’s urban core such as RAM, Artwalk, and past One Sparks, you may have become familiar or even parked your own bicycle with the “Bike Valet”, also known as “Bike Jax”. You have enjoyed peace of mind knowing your rides were secure while you shopped, walked, and grooved downtown. The man who has proudly provided this safe haven and who has been at the forefront of cycling advocacy in our city for the past 8+ years is Matt Uhrig.

 

Last Wednesday, February 17th, Matt’s very own 1990 Raleigh Talon CX was stolen during broad daylight while locked up at his home. This bike was not only his primary means of transportation, it was also essential for his employment as a bicycle courier, so this theft has doubly complicated his life.

 

The local cycling community has been beyond awesome in coming forward to offer gear as needed to keep Matt on the job, however; he’s still left to replace all that was lost. Our goal is to replace Matts’ stolen bicycle with a fully updated one that’s tough enough to handle the daily punishment of bike delivery in our city’s urban core. We are set to raise $1500 to cover the cost of a replacement bicycle, a set of waterproof panniers, lights, a front rack & dry bag, some daily use tools, and of course, a good sturdy lock.
