Help mom of six fight stage 4 cancer

UPDATE 11/20/24:

After Jordan’s trip to UNC for a second opinion, the oncologist there added a med to what her oncologist in Fayetteville was going to do. That puts her on 5 meds for each round of chemo. She had her first day of round one of chemo yesterday, November 19th, with day two and three being completed at home with a pump. She will have three days of chemo every other week for 3 months, then they will rescan her to see if the chemo is helping.

She had an MRI on November 18th. It showed that the tiny lesions that the doctor couldn’t see, or quite get to, during her surgery on October 8th have already grown larger. There are also more on her liver than before.

Jordan cannot go back to work while on such intensive chemo, and has a long, uphill battle ahead of her.

UPDATE 10/23/24:

Jordan is not giving up, but after meeting with her oncologist, they gave her a prognosis of hopefully 2 years left with aggressive chemo treatment. Absolute best case scenario is 5 years.

All of us were hopeful after the success of her surgery, but the pathology report suggests that cancer cells are still viable and a strong aggressive chemotherapy is needed.

Jordan will having a port put in for the chemo the week after next, and is working with oncology to come up with a plan for chemo treatment.

She is at home now and still in excruciating pain. She had the staples removed from her abdomen on Tuesday.

Jordan is going to need constant care and support for the rest of her life. Her, her family, and friends are deeply saddened and struggling with the prognosis given. This is not the news we were hoping for and wish more than anything that she was not facing this.

Thank you to everyone who has supported so far, and for all of the well wishes, thoughts, and prayers. The fight is not over! Anything could happen and we need to keep uplifting Jordan during this difficult time.

UPDATE 10/15/24:

Jordan has been moved out of the ICU, and was able to have her catheter and NG tube removed over the weekend. She was able to get up and walk with a walker, and walked even farther again yesterday.

More on the surgery: when she was readmitted to the hospital, they did further imaging that showed a complete bowel obstruction. Jordan was rushed into emergency surgery the next morning. They were able to remove the large mass in her colon causing the obstruction (and reconnect it so she did not come out with a colostomy bag), remove part of her liver that had cancer on it, along with other diseased areas. She was on the operating table for around 8 hours.

The fact that she is pushing herself to get up and walk this soon is amazing and a true testament to how strong she is! She is still in a lot of pain, but that is to be expected after such a complex and major surgery.

She does not have a discharge date yet, and we know that she will start chemo, but we do not know exactly when yet.

She’s fighting HARD, but she is not out of the woods. Please, please continue to keep Jordan and her family in your thoughts and prayers as she heals and continues to fight this cancer!

UPDATE 10/09/2024: Jordan had major surgery yesterday to remove the cancer masses. She is currently in the surgical ICU recovering.

Jordan has made it up and to a chair, PTL!! Movement is a very good thing.

Please continue to pray for strength and a successful recovery!

The doctor came by and said they will continue to monitor very closely in ICU. It will be a day to day decision on days in ICU and the day to move to a room.

I will continue to update as we go.

Again, we can’t say thank you enough for all of the prayers and support.
❤️❤️❤️❤️

UPDATE 10/07/2024: As much as I wish I wasn’t typing these words, the reality of the situation is that Jordan’s prognosis is not good and her condition is terminal.

After more imaging was done and meeting with the oncologists, we have a clearer picture of what is going on. Jordan has stage IV adenocarcinoma of the transverse colon that has metastasized to other areas of the colon, liver, omentum, ureter, and lymph nodes near the pancreas. The goal has changed from fighting this off entirely, to keeping Jordan as comfortable as possible for the rest of her life so she can spend quality time with her children. Her treatment options are limited. They are: chemo to stop the spread of cancer until her body can’t handle it or the cancer continues to grow, then palliative care. Just palliative care. A clinical trial. Or a risky surgery to remove the mass that is causing her extreme pain and preventing her from being able to eat.

Jordan has bravely opted for the surgery so that she can try to spend more quality time with her children without the pain she is in, and so that she can eat to keep her body nourished to extend her life. This will be a very complicated procedure with multiple specialists surgeons, a team of 30 nurses, and she will be under anesthesia all day. There are no guarantees. It is not a decision Jordan made lightly, but she is choosing to fight like hell to give her children the opportunity to have their mom as present for as long as possible. We do not have a surgery date yet, but we will soon.

Jordan asked to be discharged from the hospital for the weekend to speak to her kids about the gravity of this at home. She had to return to the hospital last night. She developed a fever, the pain she’s in is not manageable at home, and the risk of perforation of her intestinal tract is high.

Jordan and her family are of course deeply struggling to cope with this news and prognosis. We are asking that you keep Jordan and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Jordan, who is the breadwinner for her family, will not be returning to work. Anything will help this family.

10/02/2024: On September 29th, a family member and dear friend, Jordan Register, was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer that has metastasized to her liver. She is currently working with oncology to figure out the next best steps and prepping for surgery. She has been admitted to the hospital since Sunday and does not have a discharge date. Right now, the exact game plan is unknown, but what we do know is that Jordan has a long journey of intensive treatment in front of her. She is going to be out of work for the foreseeable future.

Jordan is a devoted mother of six and a grandmother of one. She has four children living at home who fully depend on her. Her girls and grandson are her world. She has been the team coach for all of her kids' soccer teams; she's the one person everyone trusts with their kids; she is the one who is always there to help.

Anyone that knows Jordan knows that she has the biggest heart and is there for anyone who needs her. Now it is our turn to help Jordan. No one going through something like this should worry about how to keep the lights on.

She is going to need help with medical expenses and basic living expenses for herself and her children. Anything helps and is much appreciated.

Let’s help Jordan fight this!!!
