JoEl's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Christina, and I'm organizing this fundraiser for my cousin, who is lucky to be alive after surviving a horrific car wreck.
JoEl lost control of her car on icey roads late at night. Her car slid off the road right into a deep embankment and crashed into trees, landing upside down in 19-degree weather. Her shoulder and forehead had lacerations to the bone, and her ribs are cracked, her skull is cracked at the base and Joel's right arm was so badly broken that when she tried to move it there was no response. Her right hip was also broken in multiple places, and she couldn't move her leg. Joel released herself from the seat belt and crawled out of the wreckage. In total darkness, she used her left arm and leg to pull her body over broken trees and broken glass up a 30-foot embankment to the guardrail. It took JoEl 8 hours to crawl up the hill, and her feet and hands have frostbite. She screamed for help until some people across the highway from her called her an ambulance.
JoEl is strong, self suffucient, and independent, but because of her severe injuries, she will be bed ridden for months and then she will need many more months of physical therapy to recover the use of her right hip and right arm. She is a single mom who has her daughter and granddaughter living with her. During her recovery, JoEl will be unable to work and pay her bills, so I created this GoFundMe to ask for help. All donations will go towards her recovery and bills.
